Care of your new jewellery

Our jewellery is manufactured with skill and craftsmanship and should bring you many years of pleasure.

We recommend you bring your jewellery back to us for regular inspection and a free annual cleaning.

In the unfortunate event of any mishap, Charles Bright has access to a wide range of specialist work-shops where your repairs will be undertaken by experts. We will gladly advise you.

To keep your jewellery in good condition, please follow these simple Jewellery Care and Cleaning Tips:

  • Try not to wear your jewellery while doing housework, gardening or sports. Stones and settings can easily be knocked or damaged.
  • For reasons of hygiene and to limit the possibility of damage, you should always remove any jewellery and your watch at night. We are not aware of our movements while we sleep and damage often occurs to jewellery at this time.
  • Avoid swimming wearing your jewellery. Chemicals used in pools may react adversely with the alloys in the gold. Sand, salt and sun-tan lotions can make gold and stones dull.
  • Do not spray perfume or hair spray onto your jewellery, especially directly onto Pearls which should always be put on last and removed first.
  • To keep your jewellery sparkling, we can supply you with specialist cleaning products. Harsh or abrasive household cleaners should be avoided.
  • Store your jewels in a soft cloth or pouch where they cannot rub together.
